The first thing you want to do before you make your website is set up all your folders.
Step 1: Go to your C drive and make a new folder. Name it website, or whatever tickles your fancy.
Thats it. You're set. If you plan on making a very large website ( 30 to 40 pages ), then you should make
subfolders for things like graphics, pictures, animations,
etc. But keep all the pages you create inside your main
folder.
After you create your website and have everything ready to go, you will want to find a web host.
Step 1: Go to google.com, or any other large scaled search engine, and search 'web hosting'.
Step 2: Click on the fourth link if you used google.com.
Step 3: Under 'Free Website' click on the blue 'Check It Out' link.
Step 4: Under 'Free!Web&BlogHosting' click 'Get Started'
Step 5: Follow the instructions, make an account.
Step 6: Click on 'File Manager'. Here you will find 8 places to upload your files. For now just upload your
home page ( index.html ).
Before you go about doing all of that you will need a web authoring program, if you don't know html.
Go here. Find something you like from that link. You will have to buy, unless I am mistaken.
You can get good image editing programs from Adobe's website. Another good one is The Gimp, which you can
find anywhere, plus it's cheaper than photosop by about $300 . A good place to look would be amazon.com.
Alrighty then. Now that you know about some good hosts, web authoring programs, and image editor programs,
you need to make sure you know who you are catering your website to. You can't just say everyone, because the
entire world is NOT interested in the same things as you are. So don't be thick, be smart.
Create a 'Source Files' folder in your C drive. Inside make several subfolders for Source image files, text files,
and graphics files.
