Navigation Systems

This website is using a very basic navigation style. I just have a text navigation
 system for every page.
It's large and blue and on the top of my site. It is very easy
to use. If you can't figure it out, then you're
an idiot. I used this style because my graphics
program doesn't seem to want to save anything that I create in it. That plus
I didn't want to create something extravigant, or else I wouldn't have turned
in this unit for another week or two.

There are far better navigation styles than the one I have used here. There
are animated navigation systems on very large website for large companies
or the websites for TV channels, like Nickalodeon or Cartoon Network.

Another navigation type is an all graphic system that has the Navigation
built in. These are called image maps. They are basically a giant graphic
that have some sections set to be links to other parts of the website.
Halo3.com and Halowars.com both use a large graphic navigation system.

You can have your navigation system set in a frame on the side of your website.
I say side and not top or bottom because if you have it on the top or
bottom you will have to scroll sideways to see all the links of your nav
bar, and that is always a nono. The good thing about using a frame is
that if you have a lot of things on your nav bar then it will have its own space.
If you don't use a frame then the nav bar will extend far past the
pragraphs on your page and you will have a large empty space under it.
The disadvantage of the framed nav bar, is the fact that someone will
have to scroll through the frame to find what they are looking for. And sometimes
your words and links will get cut off if you are not careful.

If you create a website with a fantastic graphic or animated navigation
system, make sure you include a text only nav bar at the bottom of your page just
in case someone has their graphics turned off. All it is is a nav system the same
as what I have above, except it is smaller simpler and it's at the bottom of the page.
