Design Principles
Alignment
When designing your website you must make sure that you have everything aligning
proporly. You don't want everything being all jumbled up. I think what I have done
for this website is pretty good, but I shouldn't judge myself. Here I am using a
center alignment. Everything on every page is aligned in the center. The CNN
website uses a left alignment for all of their work.
Proximity
Proximity is important in a website because it helps the viewer understand which paragraph
goes with which headline. As I have done on this page here, all my headlines are very close
to my paragraphs that concern the same subject matter. This way you will able to easily
determine what paragraph talks about what.
Repitition
Repitition is another important aspect of a good website. It helps a website determine
its own individuality. Here I have used the same background color, text color, link color,
and everyone of my pages supports my navigation bar which never changes position. I have
also use the same font, font sizes, and have not bolded anything because it would be out of
place.
Contrast
The last important design principle is contrast. Contrast is what draws you into the page.
It is what allows you to skim through the information, pick what you need, and skedadle.
Here on my website I have used a dark background, and I have used light colors for the
font so that the words stand out. They seem to burn into your eyes because of this. In a
good way of course. The different sizes of my headlines and page titles are also good
examples of contrast in use on a web page.
